On the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, paid homage at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur.
On Sunday (December 14) after 7:00 am, he laid a wreath at the memorial and stood silently for a few moments, expressing his deep respect for the martyred intellectuals.
Martyred Intellectuals Day marks one of the most tragic chapters in the history of Bangladesh’s independence and liberation war. On December 14, 1971, just before victory, the Pakistani armed forces and their collaborators killed the nation’s finest intellectuals. The day is observed as a solemn occasion of grief and remembrance for the country.
