South Africa bounced back in the five-match T20 series, defeating India by 51 runs in the second match at Chandigarh, leveling the series 1–1. India required 72 runs from 18 balls in a near-impossible chase, and despite a late surge by Tilak Varma and Jitesh Sharma, their efforts fell short.

With four balls remaining, India needed 15 runs and still had 5 wickets in hand, giving hope to fans. However, the last five wickets fell for just 5 runs, leaving India stranded at 162, falling short of South Africa’s total.

After losing the toss and batting first, South Africa scored 213/4 in 20 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock played a destructive knock of 90 runs off 46 balls, including 5 fours and 7 sixes. Donovan Ferreira (30* off 16) and David Miller (20* off 12) provided valuable support toward the end.

India’s fightback came largely from Tilak Varma, who scored 62 off 34 balls, and Jitesh Sharma, who contributed 27 runs. The collapse began in the 18th over when Jitesh Sharma was dismissed by Lutho Sipamla, followed by the rapid fall of Shivam Dubey, Arshdeep Singh, and Varun Chakravarthy in the next over by Ottniel Bartman. The final blow came in the first ball of the last over when Tilak Varma was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi.

The third match of the series will take place on 14 December in Dharamshala.
