A total of 65,502 headteachers of government primary schools will now receive salaries at the 10th grade level. A policy decision has been made to upgrade the salary grade of primary school headteachers from Grade 11 to Grade 10.
This information was revealed in a letter from the Cabinet Division on Wednesday (December 10).
The letter stated that during a meeting held on December 3, chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, discussions and decisions regarding the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education were conveyed.
The discussion focused on upgrading the salary scale of 65,502 headteachers of government primary schools from Grade 11 to Grade 10. The proposal for this upgrade was presented by the Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
It was informed that, following a writ petition, the salaries of 45 headteachers had already been upgraded from Grade 11 to Grade 10 through government orders. Following this, the proposal to upgrade the remaining 65,502 headteachers’ salaries from Grade 11 to Grade 10 received approval from the Ministry of Public Administration.
The Expenditure Management Division of the Ministry of Finance also gave its consent. The Implementation Division of the Finance Ministry determined the 10th-grade salary scale for these 65,502 positions. After detailed review, it was unanimously agreed in the meeting that a recommendation could be made to upgrade the salary scale of headteachers from Grade 11 to Grade 10.
Accordingly, it was decided to recommend upgrading the salary grade of 65,502 headteachers of government primary schools from Grade 11 to Grade 10. The Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Finance must ensure compliance with any conditions set by them (where applicable) and complete all other necessary formalities.
