In a significant political development, former BNP lawmaker and ex-state minister Maj (Retd) Monjur Kader has been nominated by the National Citizen Party (NCP) to contest the upcoming elections from the Sirajganj-5 constituency, covering Belkuchi and Chauhali.
Today, the NCP officially announced the names of four candidates for constituencies in Sirajganj. Alongside Monjur Kader’s nomination for Sirajganj-5, the party has chosen Dilshan Ara Parul for Sirajganj-3, Duti Aronno Chowdhury for Sirajganj-4, and SM Sayeed Mostafiz for Sirajganj-6.
However, the party has yet to declare its candidates for Sirajganj-1 and Sirajganj-2, leaving a few key seats still undecided.
Maj (Retd) Monjur Kader previously won the Sirajganj-5 seat as a BNP candidate in the 2001 national election, marking his return to the political arena under the banner of NCP. His nomination is seen as a strategic move by the party to strengthen its presence in the region ahead of the elections.
